“You wear so much armour by daylight that, by night, you can carry it no longer. By night, you are only flesh. And even the flesh of a queen is prone to fear.
In darkness, we are naked. Our truest selves. Night is when fear comes to us at its fullest, when we have no way to fight it. It will do everything it can to seep inside you. Sometimes it may succeed - but never think that you are the night.”
What a journey...
I was left speechless at the end of this book.
It's definitely a chunky read, but my god, each page was amazing. I was not bored for a moment, and I loved every word written in this book.
This was my first Epic fantasy read, and I had high hopes for it since many people suggested it as one of the best. I'm beyond satisfied about my experience.
The world-building of this book is extremely well done. The first 200 pages are a little hard to get through since you are getting familiar with the world-building and many characters. There is so much detail about each part of this world and how its politics and religions work. Once you get the hang of it all, it's very hard to put the book down.
This book is full of strong, authentic women, who had to make tough calls and sacrifices but also stay true to themselves and what feels right. It is worth mentioning that the male characters were also very well written, and their roles in the book were perfectly executed. I absolutely loved the characters of this book—even the villains.
What a great adventure it was. I will miss this world and all the characters in it.
