This story left me feeling sad for the old man and very confused by the children’s actions. I kept trying to find a reason for what they were doing, but it didn’t make sense to me at all. Maybe to really understand them, you’d have to think like a kid. One moment that stood out was when they saw someone coming but still stayed so firm about finishing what they had started. Honestly, I didn’t like Trevor, or any of the children, really. The ending was especially shocking: seeing the old man locked away while his house was completely destroyed, and then hearing someone laugh at the fact that all of it happened with no profit. To me, the story showed how people sometimes cause destruction for no real reason & just for the thrill of it. It reminded me of how, in wars, innocent people lose their homes and families even though they’ve done nothing wrong.
