یک پادشاهی باستانی ،تلاقی سه ملیت دوران نوین
This was Kievan Rus – a powerful East Slavic state dominated by the city of Kiev.
این روسی کیفی بود ،ایالتی در شرق سرزمین اسلاو در محدوده شهر کیف.
 Shaped in the 9th 
century it went on to flourish for the next 300 years. 
با شکل گیری در قرن نهم میلادی برای رشدی طی ۳۰۰ سال بعد پاگرفت.
The empire is traditionally seen as the beginning of 
Russia and the ancestor of Belarus and Ukraine. 
این پادشاهی بطور غالب بعنوان نقطه عطف شروع روسیه و نیای بلاروس و اوکراین شناخته می‌شود.
From those ancient times comes a popular proverb “Your
tongue will take you to Kiev”.
یک ضرب المثل از دوران قدیم در زبانها رایج شده که"زبانی که بدان تکلم میکنید نهایتا شما را به کیف خواهد کشاند".
 If you’re wondering how or why a part of your body would transport you to a 
European capital, here’s the story.
اگر مایلید با داستانی همراه شویم که نحوه هدایت شما به پایتختی اروپایی توسط عضوی از بدنتان را شرح میدهد.
 Legend has it that in 999 a Kiev resident called Nikita Shchemyaka got 
lost in the far-away steppes and was caught by a militant nomadic tribe.
افسانه اینطور میگوید که یکی از ساکنین کیف بنام نیکیتا چمیاکا که در دشت‌های دوردست گم شده بود توسط قبایل جنگجوی محلی  یافته شد.
 Nikita’s tales of Kiev’s wealth and 
splendor impressed the tribe’s chief so much, he hooked Nikita by the tongue to his horse’s tail and went 
to wage war against Kiev.
داستان‌هایی که نیکیتا از رفاه شهر کیف نقل کرد رئیس قبیله را بخود جلب نمود،او نیکیتا را با زبانش به دم اسبش بست و برای جنگ روانه کیف کرد.
 That’s how Nikita’s tongue took him home. But don’t panic if you hear the 
saying – you won’t share the unfortunate Nikita’s lot.
این نحوه بمنزل بردن نیکیتا بود.ولی زیاد منگ نشوید اگر چیزی از روایت نشنوید ،چون شما اغلب سعادتمند خواهید بود.
 Today, the proverb simply means you can always ask 
your way around.
امروزه این ضرب المثل بمعنای راهبری کردن زبان در مسائل دور وبرتان استعمال دارد.
