Site 10: Many months after this fictionalized transformation, there is  an encounter depicted between the former-velveteen rabbit and the boy.  The boy sees two rabbits peering at him from the bracken, and he  notices that one of the rabbits looks “just like my old Bunny that was  lost when I had scarlet fever!” The story ends with a further articulation of the former-velveteen rabbit as having an experience of the  encounter as well: “But [the boy] never knew that it really was his own  Bunny, come back to look at the child who first helped him to be Real.”
