Normal People
        3.5
This book is a character study and God knows I'm a sucker for those kinds of books. I love to read about people's lives and what goes around in their head and I love to solve the mystery of why they are the way they are.
But I'm still undecided about the format of this book. It tells the story of 2 young people over the years but we just see some highlighted moments of their lives. I can't decide if I like it or not. Because I know that in life, when we are older, we only remember these life-changing moments but we can't ignore the fact that every minute of every day and every little incident, shapes the kind of person we become. There were moments in the story that I wished I knew more about Conell and Marianne's life so I could feel for them more deeply.
With that being said, even with those glimpses of facts and events of their lives I still could understand them. I never got frustrated with them and their decisions because that kind of behaviour is expected from emotionally immature and damaged people.
And even their relationship made sense to me. It wasn't the relationship that was toxic, but rather the people in it. These 2 people are flawed and yet against all odds they bring out the best versions of themselves when they are together.
I just wish I knew why they are like this. Especially with Connell. He remains a mystery to me and I don't like unsolvable mysteries; but hey, that's just me.
