یادداشت روژان صادقی

When I decide to read romance every once in a while, I want it to be rational, I want the characters to feel real, I want their struggles to resonate with me or at least be comprehensible to me.
This book did have all that plus an added bonus which was navigating not only true identity and having that coming of age feeling to it, but also had an oppressive political setting which of course affected everyone in the book and every decision they made.

What made me lose interest in this book was, only focusing on the characterisation of the main character due to the fact that the book was his stream of consciousness, and in result completely forgetting about his love interests whom supposedly has to have a big influence on him and his search for identity.

I mostly love short books. I like authors that can convey their main message in limited page numbers, but I think some books and some important subjects have to have more time to be talked and thought about, and Swimming in the Dark in my opinion was one of them.
