The story was unique and had lots of potential. I feel like it could have been an awesome trilogy. (But I'm really glad that we're getting more and more fantasy stand alones, so thumps up.)

Isobel was the most talented person in painting portraits (I wish I had that talent) and Rook was a true gentleman, so lovable. And oh my God, Gadfly was the best character in the book in terms of complexity, enjoyed reading his characters.

Now here are some problems I had: the middle part of the story was really slow while everything came to an end tooooo quickly. It would be great if we had more conversation and some background of the characters, especially Rook since a lot had happened to him. I constantly read about how strong he was and that only few people matched him in power, but truly he wasn't powerful AT ALL!!!!! I mean almost everyone could have done the things he did, so not even that great.

All in all, such a fun and enjoyable read. I do recommend it to you guys.
