ماکس بورن فیزیکدان و ریاضیدان آلمانی یهودی‌تبار بود که در شاخه‌ی فیزیک نظری فعالیت می‌کرد و به دلیل فعالیت‌هایش در مکانیک کوانتومی و تعبیر احتمالاتی او از تابع موج شناخته شده است. او برنده‌ی جایزه‌ی نوبل فیزیک، مدال هیوز، مدال ماکس پلانک و همکار انجمن سلطنتی است. از میان کتاب‌های او، کتاب نظریه‌ی نسبیت انیشتین معروف‌ترین است که به زبان فارسی نیز ترجمه شده.
