The Hobbit
        3.5/5
From the moment that in 7th grade I heard my friend talking passionately about the LoTR series I so badly wanted to watch the movies. But luckily I did not have easy access to movies back then as it would have been devastating to watch the movies before reading the books. This year I decided that it was time to finally read the series and so I started with The Hobbit.
Now, because I'd already read the two first books of The Chronicles of Narnia series and was very much disappointed with them and since I've always heard and seen comparisons and mentions of similarities between the two author's works I went into reading The Hobbit expecting not to like it a great deal and boy was I surprised!
I read the book in the course of 3 days and even though I was bored at times but in general it was a magical time spent.
I was very thrilled to finally learn about some of the pop culture references of the series. (I.e. The Ring and what "My Precious" means!)
The main problem I had with the book was that awesome and breathtaking build ups to the climaxes of the story but not fulfilling the expectations of the reader. Although, I am very satisfied with how the main climax of the story didn't turn out to be the thing I expected it to be!
I believe that Tolkien was a clever fellow given that he made me feel emotions and get excited over a book that was intended for children, and if he was still alive I'd pray for his beard to grow longer and longer everyday!=)
